A lost flap is where a flap is broken off and is not or cannot be replaced.

A flap may become dislodged and then broken off and lost as the result of an accident involving a serious blow to the eye. Or (very rare instances) during surgery, the flap may be severed and damaged to an extent where it simply cannot be replaced.
What does it mean for the patient? (posted: jan 2005)
A lost or amputated flap is a very serious complication for the patient almost inevitably involving a large loss of BCVA.
How is it treated? (posted: jan 2005)
Corneal transplantation, either partial or full thickness, will probably be indicated.
