Wavefront refers to a way of measuring light as it passes through the cornea, bounces off the retina and comes back through the cornea. In laser eye surgery, wavefront technology is used both diagnostically and (in wavefront-guided procedures) to program laser ablations.
Wavefront aberrometery data is presented in terms of Zernike polynomials, representing both lower order aberrations and higher order baerrations.
Many of the optical disturbances caused by laser eye surgery which are not visible during a standard eye examination are visible using wavefront diagnostic technology. |
