Starbursts and haloes are among the most frequently reported side effects of laser eye surgery. They may be short-lived and in fact most patients will probably experience symptoms in the first days or weeks. Sometimes they persist for the long-term. This is particularly true of patients who have high prescriptions and/or large pupils and/or had a smaller area of the cornea treated than their dark-adapted pupil size.
Starbursts come in many shapes and sizes. They may be small enough to be only a mild annoyance at worst, or they may literally be as large as houses. |
