Serial topography

IN BRIEF

The practice of taking topography scans at intervals to identify changes.

DISCUSSION

An important application of serial topography in laser eye surgery is in patient screening. Performing topographies at an interval of, say, one month may help determine the stability of corneal power and shape. In gas permeable lens wearers this is particularly important and topography may need to be performed several times after the patient has discontinued wear until the cornea is clearly stable.
