Pinhole glasses

IN BRIEF

Glasses with dark, opaque lenses with many small "pinholes" through which a wearer sees.

DISCUSSION

Pinhole glasses can be a useful tool to quickly gauge the best vision a patient may achieve, because they eliminate poorly focused light rays. Patients with corneal irregularities due to ablation defects or scars may see well through pinhole glasses.

Pinhole glasses for general use are very controversial and are not commonly available.
