DISCUSSION

examples

Individuals with myopia are usually classed into groups: low myopes, moderate myopes, high myopes, very high myopes. Surprisingly, there is no hard and fast rule for these groupings and in fact a very high stakes LASIK lawsuit once took an interesting turn because of differences amongst physicians in how degrees of myopia are defined.

However, we offer (PURELY AS A ROUGH GUIDE and not to be strictly relied upon without consulting a physician!) the ranges that seem to be most frequently referred to:

Low myope = up to 3 dioptres

Moderate myope = up to 6 dioptres

High myope = up to 9 dioptres

Very high myope = over 9 dioptres
