LASIK salute

IN BRIEF

Cheeky name for self-checking one's vision one eye at a time.

DISCUSSION

Patients who have recently undergone a laser eye surgery, or who have fluctuating vision as a long-term complication, often check their vision by covering first one eye and then the other.

This habit-forming vision check has been dubbed "the LASIK salute" by complications patients (exact origins unknown) as an ironic reference to their feelings about having undergone laser eye surgery.
