Intrastromal Corneal Ring Segments (INTACS)

IN BRIEF

INTACS is the name of a product as well as of a vision correction procedure consisting of implanting small slivers of plastic in the corneal stroma outside the central optical zone.

DISCUSSION

INTACS were developed originally as a means of elective vision correction, however, they are increasingly being used therapeutically to stabilise keratoconus and ectasia.
