Autonomous were the first company to develop and gain FDA approval for a laser with two significant technological advances: "flying spot" laser, and an eye tracking device. Shortly after FDA approval of the LADARVision for PRK, Autonomous were bought ought by Summit, and Summit in turn were acquired by Alcon just as the LADARVision was achieving FDA approval for LASIK.
