(1) The process of ablating corneal tissue

(3) The area of cornea from which tissue has been removed (i.e. what really happens to the corneal stroma during a laser eye surgery)

In laser surgeries, first the corneal stroma is exposed and then the laser fires at it to ablate tissue. The action of the laser basically forces the molecules to detach from each other.
